Jozi mini-Jam 2017
A Taste of a Jam – Johannesburg, South Africa
February 27, 2017 – 10 am to 2 pm – Greenhouse Peoples' Environmental Center, Joubert Park, Johannesburg
THE INVITATION
Dear Friends:
Shilpa Jain and Austin Willacy from YES! are visiting South Africa at the moment. They are offering to conduct a mini-Jam with South African change makers on Monday the 27th February 2017 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Greenhouse Project.
A Jam is a gathering focused on the meeting point of personal, interpersonal and systemic transformation. Jams are a way for multi-generational change-makers to share their experiences, ideas, questions, hopes and struggles, and more — in order to:
– learn and unlearn, heal and grow together;
– build relationships that matter to them;
– vision and collaborate towards the world they want to see.
To date, there have been over 125 Jams in 15 countries. Jams look different in different contexts, and are usually 4-7 days. This experience is a 'mini-jam' — just a taste of the process of self-awareness, community-building, and connecting the dots of social change. We hope it provides us with an opportunity to make more connections and build bridges with other change-makers in Johannesburg.
YES! is a 27-year-old organization based in the US, that works with teams of change-makers all around the world. Most recently, Zakiyya Ismail was at the Education Transformation Jam in August 2016, and is excited to support a Jam-like experience here. She is joined in the hosting experience by Dorah Marema and Hatim Eltayeb, who are friends of Shilpa's and Austin's friends/family.
